The Ministry of Public Service has suspended its planned verification exercise for civil servants and pensioners in the provincial regions due to technical challenges.

In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said the exercise, originally scheduled to run from 17 to 23 August 2026, has been postponed until further notice.

The ministry said verification teams would be deployed to the provinces for a week-long exercise once a new timetable was announced.

It confirmed, however, that the verification exercise for civil servants and pensioners in the Greater Banjul Area would proceed as planned, beginning on 20 August 2026.

The ministry apologized for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and reaffirmed its commitment to public service reforms aimed at strengthening human resource management, accountability and transparency.

A new date for the up-country verification exercise will be communicated in due course, the statement added.
