The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Electoral Committee has announced the roadmap for the federation’s 2026 Elective Congress, with the election scheduled for 29 August 2026.
The committee said the nomination process for candidates seeking executive positions will open on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, and close on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
In a statement signed by Electoral Committee Chairman Lamin Sanneh and Secretary Lamin M. Jassey, the committee said nomination forms would be available for collection and submission at the GFF General Secretariat during working hours.
The committee said the nomination deadline complies with Article 11.1 of the GFF Electoral Code, which requires all nominations to be completed at least 30 days before the Elective Congress.
Following the closure of nominations, the Electoral Committee will publish the preliminary list of nominated candidates on 5 August 2026, before releasing the final list of approved candidates on 12 August 2026.
The committee explained that nomination forms must be signed by the President and Secretary General of the GFF member proposing a candidate. In cases where either official is unable to sign, a written authorisation delegating the responsibility must accompany the nomination and be addressed to the Chairman of the Electoral Committee.
It added that all signatures and supporting documents would be subject to verification to ensure compliance with electoral requirements.
The committee urged prospective candidates to familiarise themselves with the GFF Constitution, Electoral Code and relevant FIFA regulations governing the electoral process.
To qualify for an executive position, candidates must have been actively involved in football for at least five years in a recognised capacity at the national, regional, Nawettan or academy level, including administrative, technical or committee roles.
