Gambian athlete Serreh Sanneh won the gold medal in the U18 women’s long jump at the 2026 CAA U18 and U20 African Athletics Championships in Dakar, Senegal.
Sanneh secured the continental title with a personal best jump of 5.62 metres in the final, improving on her previous best of 5.42 metres, which she recorded at the African School Games in Algeria.
The victory marks a significant achievement for the young athlete and adds to The Gambia’s medal tally at the continental championships.
Sanneh’s winning performance underlined her progress in the event and established a new personal record as she claimed the U18 African title.
Her success is expected to provide further encouragement for the development of athletics in The Gambia and inspire other young athletes to compete at the highest level.
