Gambian teenage winger Alieu Saine is attracting interest from several European clubs following his impressive performances for the Young Scorpions at the recent WAFU Zone A U-17 Championship in Senegal.
The 16-year-old played a key role in Gambia’s successful campaign as the Young Scorpions won the regional tournament after a strong run in Senegal.
Saine’s performances have reportedly attracted the attention of several prominent European clubs, including English Premier League sides Manchester United and Liverpool.
Scouts from the two English clubs were reportedly present during the tournament as European teams assessed some of the region’s emerging young talents.
The Gambian winger is also reportedly being monitored by Portuguese club Benfica and Spanish La Liga side Celta Vigo, with sources indicating that both clubs have continued to follow his development.
Saine, who is only 16, remains at an early stage of his professional career, but his performances at international youth level have already generated interest from clubs outside Africa.
His emergence comes as Gambian youth football continues to produce players attracting attention from clubs and scouts abroad.
