The National Farmers Union of The Gambia has commended the government for what it described as the timely delivery of quality fertilizer to farmers across the country.
In an appreciation letter dated Aug. 23, 2026, the Union said the government’s support had helped strengthen agricultural production and boost farmers’ confidence in the current farming season.
“On behalf of the National Farmers Union of The Gambia, we wish to express our sincere appreciation to the Government of The Gambia for the tremendous support provided to Gambian farmers through the supply of fertiliser,” the union wrote.
The farmers’ body particularly praised the government for ensuring that the fertilizer supplied was of good quality and delivered on time.
According to the union, the timely intervention had provided important support to farmers and encouraged greater participation in agricultural activities across the country.
The National Farmers Union also commended President Adama Barrow, Agriculture Minister Dr Demba Sabally and Gambia Groundnut Corporation (GGC) Managing Director Muhammed Njie for what it described as their continued commitment to the farming community.
The union said government support for agricultural inputs was contributing to efforts to strengthen the sector, improve food production and protect farmers’ livelihoods.
It called on the government to maintain the availability of quality agricultural inputs throughout the farming seasons.
The farmers’ body said continued access to fertilizer and other essential inputs would remain critical to sustaining agricultural production and supporting farmers across the country.
The union concluded by thanking the government for its continued support and commitment to Gambian farmers and encouraged authorities to sustain the intervention in future farming seasons.
