Gambian forwards Suleiman Camara and Alassana Yirajang were both on target as SK Slovan Bratislava defeated Swedish side Mjällby AIF 2-0 on Tuesday to reach the UEFA Champions League playoff round.
Camara continued his impressive start to European football with his new club, scoring in consecutive continental matches to give Slovan Bratislava a crucial advantage.
The Gambian winger once again demonstrated his attacking quality, finding the net as the Slovak champions produced a strong performance against their Swedish opponents.
Yirajang later doubled Slovan’s lead, ensuring a comfortable victory on the night and contributing to a 4-1 aggregate triumph over Mjällby.
The result sends Slovan Bratislava into the Champions League playoff round, leaving the Slovak champions one step away from securing a place in the competition’s league phase.
The performances of Camara and Yirajang further highlight the growing presence of Gambian players on the European club football scene.
