Gambian left-back Saibo Saidy has completed a permanent transfer to Slovak First Football League side FK Železiarne Podbrezová from Finnish club Mikkelin Palloilijat.
The 19-year-old defender joins the Slovak top-flight club after an impressive spell in Finland, where he established himself as one of the league’s promising young players.
Saidy moved to Mikkelin Palloilijat from Swedish club Vasalund during the winter transfer window and enjoyed an outstanding first half of the 2026 Finnish league season, scoring four goals in 10 appearances despite operating primarily as a left-back.
His attacking displays and consistent performances attracted interest from several European clubs before FK Železiarne Podbrezová secured his services on a permanent deal ahead of the new season.
The defender’s rise has been rapid. He left Gambian side Bombada FC in October 2025 to begin his professional career with Sweden’s Vasalund before moving to Finland, where his development continued.
His transfer to Slovakia represents another milestone in his career and adds to the growing number of Gambian footballers competing in Europe’s top leagues.
Saidy is expected to continue his development at FK Železiarne Podbrezová as he seeks to establish himself in the Slovak top flight while pursuing his long-term ambitions at international level.
