Gambian international defender Maudo Lamin Jarju has signed a two-year contract with Azerbaijani club Shafa FC after joining the side as a free agent following his departure from North Macedonian outfit Struga T&L.

The 28-year-old returns to Azerbaijan for a second spell, having previously played for Sabail in the country’s top division.

Jarju’s move marks another chapter in his professional career as he brings top-flight experience and international exposure to his new club.

The Scorpions defender previously featured for Struga T&L in North Macedonia before leaving the club at the end of his contract.

He will now seek to establish himself at Shafa FC and contribute to the club’s ambitions over the next two seasons.

Jarju’s transfer adds to the growing number of Gambian footballers pursuing professional careers across European leagues.
