Gambia Names Final 25-Man Squad for WAFU U-17 Tournament

Gambia U-17 head coach Yahya Manneh has named his final 25-man squad for the upcoming WAFU Zone A U-17 Tournament, scheduled to take place in Dakar, Senegal.

The Young Scorpions are expected to leave The Gambia by road on Friday ahead of the tournament, which kicks off on Sept. 7, 2026.

Manneh’s squad features promising young talents from academies and clubs across The Gambia, alongside one player based in Nigeria and another in the Netherlands.

The squad comprises two goalkeepers, five defenders, nine midfielders and nine forwards, providing a balanced combination of defensive, midfield and attacking options.

The goalkeeping department includes Muhamed Trawally and Vanou Gomez.

The five defenders are Ousman Tamba, Ousman Sey, Sanna Saidy Khan, Faburama Jaiteh and Abdoulie Nyang.

Midfield options include Omar Marong, Mamadi Camara, Sambujang Daffeh, Adama Jeng, Muhammed Jatta, Lamin Fatty, Assan Colley, Kemo Sanneh and Momodou Lamin Jatta.

The attacking line features Omar Badjie, Sheikh Ngum, Baboucarr Jatta, Ebrima Kanyi, Sharif Touray, Musa Jarju, Abdou Salam Demba, Alieu Saine and Momodou Barry.

The Young Scorpions will be hoping to make a strong impression in Dakar as they compete for qualification and regional honours.
