The initiative seeks to reinforce relationships with Nordic travel trade partners and promote The Gambia as a year-round holiday destination, highlighting its tourism products, cultural heritage and growing opportunities for sustainable tourism.

The Gambian delegation met with tour operators, travel agents and other tourism industry professionals in Copenhagen to promote the country’s tourism offerings and explore opportunities for increased business collaboration.

The delegation included representatives of key industry stakeholders, among them Gambia International Airlines (GIA), the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Djeliba Leisure Group and Gambia Tours.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ida Jeng-Njie, Director General of the Gambia Tourism Board, welcomed participants and highlighted the longstanding historical ties between The Gambia and the Nordic region.

She reaffirmed the country’s commitment to strengthening its position in the market by promoting diverse, sustainable and high-quality tourism experiences.

A destination presentation followed the opening ceremony, showcasing The Gambia’s beaches, rich cultural heritage, eco-tourism attractions and air connectivity. The presentation also sought to reassure travel trade partners of the destination’s readiness for the 2026/2027 winter tourism season.

A key component of the roadshow was a business-to-business (B2B) networking session, which provided members of the Gambian delegation with an opportunity to engage directly with Copenhagen’s travel trade professionals.

The session was designed to facilitate new partnerships, discuss tailored holiday packages and identify opportunities to increase tourist arrivals from the Nordic market.

The first day of the roadshow concluded with a networking dinner, providing a further opportunity for participants to exchange ideas, strengthen professional relationships and explore potential business opportunities in a relaxed setting.

The Nordic Stakeholders Roadshow is expected to continue across Scandinavia in the coming days, extending the destination-marketing initiative to other markets in the region.

Through the engagement, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and GTBoard aim to expand The Gambia’s reach among Nordic travellers, strengthen cooperation with travel industry partners and support the continued growth of the country’s tourism sector.
