The Gambia Cricket Association (GCA) is hosting an International Cricket Council (ICC) Level 1 Technical Coaching Course as part of efforts to strengthen coaching capacity and promote cricket development in the country.
The week-long course, being held at the Sea View Hotel, brings together aspiring and developing cricket coaches for professional training aimed at improving their technical knowledge and coaching skills.
The training, which runs from Monday to Oct. 9, is designed to enhance participants’ understanding of modern cricket, coaching methods and effective player development.
The GCA said the initiative forms part of its continued efforts to develop qualified coaching personnel and strengthen the foundation of cricket development across The Gambia.
The sessions are being led by experienced tutors Landry Rurangwa and Andreh Jarju.
Participants are expected to receive training in key areas of coaching, including technical development, session planning, player management and effective delivery of cricket training sessions.
The course is also expected to equip participants with practical skills to identify and nurture emerging talent at different levels of the game.
The GCA said strengthening the country’s coaching pool was essential to sustaining the growth of cricket and providing young players with access to quality technical guidance.
The initiative is expected to contribute to the development of qualified coaches capable of supporting clubs, schools and national development programmes.
The association said the training represents an important step towards building a stronger and more professional coaching structure for cricket in The Gambia.
