The Brikama Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded one Kalilu Marreh at Mile 2 Central Prison after his appearance on four counts of stealing.
Appearing before Magistrate K.B. Smbou, Marreh is accused of stealing solar equipment and a pumping machine in separate incidents in Kassa Kunda and Nyofelleh in the West Coast Region.
According to the charges, the first count relates to an alleged incident on Aug. 27 at Kassa Kunda, where Marreh is accused of stealing a solar panel valued at D7,500 and a controller valued at D6,500, with a combined value of D14,000.00.
The items are alleged to be the property of Dodou Jah.
The second count concerns the alleged theft of a controller valued at D6,000 at Nyofelleh on Aug. 27. The controller is said to the property of Muhammed Lamin Barrow.
The third count relates to an alleged incident at Nyofelleh on Aug. 26, where Marreh is accused of stealing a pumping machine valued at D13,000.00 belonging to Lamin Bojang.
The fourth count concerns an alleged theft at Kassa Kunda on Aug. 27 involving a pumping machine and a controller valued at D15,500. The items are alleged to be the property of Alagie Gassama.
All four charges were brought under Section 226 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025.
When the charges were read and explained to him, Marreh pleaded guilty to the first count but denied counts two, three and four.
DSP Kinteh, representing the Inspector General of Police, subsequently applied for Marreh to be remanded in custody pending the continuation of the case.
Magistrate Smbou granted the application and ordered that Marreh remained at Mile 2 Central Prison while the case was adjourned to Oct. 6, 2026.
