Gambian winger Suleiman Camara enjoyed a dream debut for Slovak champions Slovan Bratislava, scoring one goal and providing an assist in a 2-1 comeback victory over Swedish side Mjällby in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third qualifying round tie.
Camara, 24, was introduced in the 66th minute and made an immediate impact. He levelled the score in the 78th minute before setting up the winning goal deep into stoppage time, giving Slovan Bratislava a valuable first-leg advantage ahead of the return match.
The former Racing Santander winger produced an impressive performance from the bench, displaying his pace, creativity and composure to help his side overturn the deficit.
Another Gambian international, Alasana Yirajang, started the match and played the full 90 minutes as Slovan Bratislava secured an important away victory.
For Mjällby, Gambian midfielder Abdoulie Manneh came on as a substitute in the 70th minute but was unable to prevent the Swedish club from conceding the decisive late goal.
Camara’s impressive debut marks a promising start to his career with Slovan Bratislava as the Slovak champions seek to qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
