Alleged Rapist Remanded at Mile II

The Kanifing Magistrate’s Court has remanded Mohammed Sabally to Mile II Central Prison after he was arraigned on an alleged rape charge.

The case was heard before Magistrate Binta Sowe. Sabally is charged with an offence contrary to Section 3(2)(d), punishable under Section 4(1)(a)(i) of the Sexual Offences Act 2013.

According to the particulars of the offence, Mohammed Sabally, on or about February 1, 2026, at Old Jeshwang in the Kanifing Municipality, unlawfully had sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl, whose identity has been withheld, thereby committing an offence.

When the charge was read and interpreted to the accused in a language he understood and spoke, he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Following his plea, Magistrate Binta Sowe adjourned the matter and ordered that Sabally be remanded at Mile II Central Prison pending the next hearing.

The case was adjourned to October 7, 2026, for the facts to be read and for possible sentencing.
