Retiree Sues Two Men Over Disputed Land in Kuloro Village
By Isatou Sarr
A retired civil servant, Kebuteh Darboe of Busumbala Village has filed a civil suit seeking possession of a disputed plot of land measuring 200 metres by 176 metres at Kuloro Village.
Darboe has sued Dembo Badjie of Kuloro and Yusupha Bojang, a driver from Farato Bojang Kunda, seeking recovery of the property, D100,000 in general damages and D10,000 in costs.
In an affidavit supporting a motion before the court, Darboe said he acquired the land from the first defendant in 2004 and remained in undisturbed possession until recently.
He alleged that the second defendant was acting in connivance with Badjie to interfere with and trespass on the property without his consent.
Darboe also disclosed that a separate case involving the same parties, but concerning a plot of different dimensions, was pending before the court.
He further claimed that he had never entered into any transaction with Bojang, whom he accused of instigating Badjie to obstruct his plans to demarcate portions of the land for sale.
The plaintiff is seeking an order restraining the defendants, their agents, associates and privies from further interfering with or trespassing on the property.
He is also asking the court to prohibit any new development on the land pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
In the affidavit, Darboe argued that court intervention was necessary to prevent further interference with the disputed property.
“Without the intervention of this honourable court, defendants will continue provoking and interfering into plaintiff’s land all the time,” the affidavit stated.
He maintained that he was the lawful owner of the land and urged the court to grant the requested restraining order.
When the claims were read in English and interpreted into Mandinka, the language chosen by the defendants, both men denied liability.
Following their denial, the court adjourned the case to 6th November 2026.
