Berewuleng FC Retain GFF Women’s First Division Title

Berewuleng FC have retained the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Women’s First Division League title after defeating Yakar FC 5-0 in their final league match at the Box Bar Mini Stadium in Brikama.

The Brikama-based side sealed back-to-back league titles with a dominant performance during a coronation ceremony attended by GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo. The champions received the league trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of D500,000.

Gambia Under-20 international Sarah Jarju scored a first-half hat-trick, while Mariama Sima and Mafanta Drammeh added a goal each to complete the comprehensive victory.

TMT FC finished second in the standings after defeating Police FC 2-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium. Goals from Laize Colley and Isatou Buwaro secured the victory and the runners-up prize of D250,000.

At the Bakau Mini Stadium, Immigration FC secured their top-flight status after playing out a goalless draw with Red Scorpions, who finished third and received D125,000 in prize money.

In another final-day fixture, Fortune FC came from behind to beat Brikama United 2-1 at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum.

Hawa A. Sonko gave Brikama United the lead in the 23rd minute before Sadita Luise Babatche equalised just before halftime. Mariama Faye scored the winner in the 59th minute to hand Fortune FC victory.

The result confirmed the relegation of Brikama United and Greater Tomorrow to the GFF Women’s Second Division for next season.
