Berewuleng Move Closer to Retaining GFF Women’s First Division Title

Defending champions Berewuleng moved to the brink of retaining the GFF Women’s First Division League title after defeating Immigration FC 4-1 in the penultimate round of the championship.

The victory leaves Berewuleng at the top of the standings with 40 points, three ahead of second-placed TMT FC, with one round of matches remaining.

At the Bakau Mini Stadium, Berewuleng produced a dominant display, with goals from Juana Colley, Mariama Sima and Sarah Jarju, while an own goal by Bintou Tamba added to their tally. Mariama Beyai scored the consolation goal for Immigration FC.

TMT FC kept their title hopes alive with a narrow 1-0 victory over Red Scorpions. Laize Co scored the only goal of the match to ensure the championship race will be decided on the final day of the season.

In another fixture, Yakarr came from behind to defeat Fortune Female FC 4-3 in a high-scoring encounter at Nyimina Football Field in Gunjur.

Fortune’s goals came through Flava Ebbatamogalfredo, Jojo Bojang and an own goal by Isha Mballow. Yakarr responded with a brace from Ndey M. Ceesay and further goals from Fatou Nyassi and Banna Jarju to secure the victory.

Meanwhile, Police FC and Koita FC shared the points after a goalless draw at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

With one round remaining, Berewuleng lead the table with 40 points and a goal difference of plus 43, while TMT FC are second on 37 points with a goal difference of plus 18. Red Scorpions occupy third place on 32 points.

At the bottom of the standings, the battle against relegation remains unresolved, with Brikama United on seven points and Immigration FC on eight points heading into the final round of fixtures.
