Longman Memorial Methodist Preparatory and Kindergarten School on Thursday celebrated its Mufti Day with a series of cultural and stage performances showcasing students’ talents and The Gambia’s diverse heritage.
The event brought together pupils, parents, teachers and invited guests, and featured performances representing different ethnic traditions across the country.
According to organisers, the celebration was designed to provide students with an opportunity to express their creativity, build confidence and promote cultural awareness.
The programme included a range of cultural displays highlighting customs and traditions from various communities, drawing appreciation from the audience.
A performance by a Jola cultural group concluded the event, featuring traditional music and dance that reflected the heritage of the Jola people.
Speaking to The Voice, senior teacher Mr Sainey Badjie said the initiative aimed to encourage unity among students through the celebration of cultural diversity.
He added that such events help pupils develop confidence while fostering appreciation of the country’s multi-ethnic identity.
The school administration expressed appreciation to teachers, parents and guests for their support in making the programme a success.
The Mufti Day celebration forms part of the school’s efforts to promote cultural education alongside academic learning.
