No Ebola Case Detected in The Gambia – Health Ministry

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that no suspected or confirmed cases of Ebola have been detected in The Gambia, amid ongoing regional monitoring of the disease outbreak.

In a public update, the Ministry said it continues to implement surveillance and preparedness measures in line with the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005), as well as World Health Organization (WHO) and Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) recommendations on border health and international travel.

According to the Ministry, the latest WHO risk assessment classifies countries such as The Gambia, which do not share land borders with affected areas, as low risk. However, it said surveillance activities have been intensified nationwide.

The Ministry said arrival screening has been strengthened at points of entry, particularly at Banjul International Airport.

It added that Rapid Response Teams have been reactivated across all seven health regions to support early detection and response capacity.

The National IHR Focal Point and the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre, it said, remain on alert and continue to closely monitor the situation.

The Ministry also noted that media centre staff have been sensitised, while the toll-free health hotline 1025 remains operational 24 hours a day for public enquiries.
