The battle to avoid relegation from the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League will go down to the final day of the season following a series of decisive matches in the penultimate round played on Tuesday.

BST Galaxy FC secured their place in next season’s top flight with a 1-0 victory over Greater Tomorrow FC in Brikama.

Mansour Mbye scored the only goal of the match in the 61st minute to earn BST Galaxy three points and confirm the club’s safety with one game remaining.

In Bakau, Steve Biko FC and Falcons FC played out a 1-1 draw.

Adama Dem gave Steve Biko the lead in the 30th minute, but Ousainou Sarr scored a late equaliser deep into stoppage time to earn Falcons a valuable point.

Meanwhile, TMT FC and Hawks FC shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum.

Salieu Jallow put TMT ahead before halftime, while Suleyman Sowe equalised for Hawks in the 51st minute.

The results leave the relegation contest unresolved ahead of the final round of fixtures, with several clubs still battling to retain their First Division status.

BST Galaxy are now mathematically safe, while the remaining teams in the relegation zone will seek to secure survival on the last day of the season.
