The Gambia Police Force has launched an investigation into the death of a man whose body was discovered in an apartment at Nema on Monday, June 15, 2026.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, police identified the deceased as Kebba Sarr, a truck driver and resident of Wellingara.
According to the statement, officers from Wellingara Police Station responded to the scene following the discovery of the body and immediately opened investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
The police said they are aware of social media reports suggesting that the deceased may have been stabbed, but noted that preliminary findings do not support those claims at this stage.
They added that the cause of death has not yet been determined and that investigations are ongoing.
The police urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, warning that speculation could mislead the public and interfere with ongoing investigations.
The Gambia Police Force said it remains committed to conducting a thorough inquiry and will provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
