The Gambia Police Force has announced the arrest of a 33-year-old Guinean national in connection with the alleged murder of a teacher in Fajara.
According to police, the Kairaba Police Division is investigating a murder incident reported on Monday, June 15, 2026, which led to the death of Yunusa Mbye, a teacher and native of Bansang.
The suspect, identified as Mamadou Bah, a 33-year-old Guinean national resident in Fajara, is currently in police custody assisting investigators.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the incident followed an altercation between the suspect and the deceased, during which the victim sustained injuries.
Police said Mbye was rushed to hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
Crime Scene Investigators and officers from the Criminal Investigation Department visited the scene and recovered items considered relevant to the investigation.
The police said investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided as the case develops.
