Colley Stars, Kanifing East Maintain Joint Lead in GFF Second Division Promotion Race

Colley Stars and Kanifing East strengthened their bids for promotion after recording important victories in Week 31 of the GFF-APS Wallet Men’s Second Division League.

League leaders Colley Stars edged Wagadu 1-0 in Brikama to return to winning ways and remain level on points at the top of the standings.

Former Gambia U-17 forward Bubacarr Suso scored the only goal of the match in the 59th minute, heading home to secure all three points for Colley Stars.

Kanifing East kept pace with the leaders by defeating Unique Global 2-1 at the Ousman Saho Football Field.

Alagie Mama Bah scored twice for Kanifing East before Modou Lamin Ngum reduced the deficit late in the match for Unique Global.

At the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, Suwo Kono boosted their chances of avoiding relegation with a 2-0 victory over Wallidan.

Kallu Camara and substitute Ansu Nyassi were on target for Suwo Kono, while Wallidan were reduced to 10 men after Armando Manga was sent off for a second bookable offence.

In another fixture, Marimoo Pakfood came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against North Star in Bakau.

Folomo Beavogui gave North Star the lead before James Mendy equalised for Marimoo Pakfood to earn a valuable point in their fight against relegation.

With three matches remaining, Colley Stars and Kanifing East jointly lead the table on 57 points, six points ahead of third-placed Baalor Sarr. Elite United and Menmar Banjul United remain in contention for promotion, while Gunjur United, Marimoo Pakfood and Serrekunda FC continue to battle to avoid relegation.
