Baalor Sarr, Sibanor United, RS Tallinding and AJ Soccer registered important victories in Matchday 31 of the GFF-APS Wallet Men’s Second Division League as the battles for promotion and survival intensified.
At the Dimphy’s Memorial Football Complex in Fabara Bantang, Baalor Sarr defeated Gunjur United 2-1 thanks to a brace from Ebrima Saidy. Bubacarr Bojang scored Gunjur United’s lone goal.
Sibanor United continued their strong run of form with a 2-1 victory over Serrekunda United at the Bakau Mini Stadium.
Fakebba Saine opened the scoring for Sibanor United before Besenty Mendy doubled the lead. Bakary Njie pulled a goal back for Serrekunda United, but Sibanor held on to secure maximum points.
In another key fixture, Menmar Banjul United and Elite United played to a 1-1 draw in a closely contested encounter with implications for the promotion race.
Malick Jangum gave Menmar Banjul United the lead before Musa Tamba equalised for Elite United in the second half.
RS Tallinding strengthened their promotion playoff hopes with a 2-0 victory over Gambia Armed Forces.
Masanneh Jobarteh and Foday Sawaneh scored the goals that secured all three points for RS Tallinding.
Meanwhile, AJ Soccer boosted their chances of avoiding relegation with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Serrekunda FC at the Soma Mini Stadium.
Bubacarr Sanneh scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute to hand AJ Soccer a vital victory in the battle for survival.
With only a handful of matches remaining, the race for promotion and the fight against relegation remain finely poised in the Second Division League.
