President Barrow Emphasises Peace, Reconciliation in Eid Address

President Adama Barrow has called on Gambians to uphold peace, unity and reconciliation, describing them as essential for national development and a successful election year.

Delivering his Eid-ul-Adha message, President Barrow said the festival is a time for reunion, prayer and forgiveness, urging citizens to strengthen bonds of friendship and solidarity.

He described Eid as an important occasion in the Islamic calendar, marked by reconciliation and collective prayers.

The President noted that The Gambia is entering an important election period and appealed for the preservation of peace and stability in the country.

He expressed hope that the elections would be conducted in a peaceful, transparent and credible manner that would inspire confidence both nationally and internationally.

Barrow thanked citizens for maintaining peace, stressing that stability remains a key foundation for national development.

He said peace is “priceless” and urged Gambians to continue working together in the interest of national unity and progress.

The President also expressed concern over ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, calling for dialogue and peaceful resolution among parties involved.

He extended Eid-ul-Adha greetings to Gambians and the wider Muslim Ummah, praying for continued peace, stability and prosperity.
