Hope for the Future organised a career day at the NaNA Conference Hall aimed at equipping young people with knowledge, guidance and inspiration to make informed career choices and pursue their ambitions.

The event brought together professionals, mentors and young participants to discuss career planning, skills development and pathways to personal and professional success. It also provided a platform for participants to explore opportunities and understand their role in national development.

Speaking at the event, Rosamond Erica Johnson, Executive Director of Hope for the Future, said the organisation is committed to supporting vulnerable children, migrants, returnees and survivors of human trafficking.

She said the organisation helps disadvantaged children access education, food, clothing and shelter, while also supporting vulnerable groups to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into their communities.

“Hope for the Future is there to give them hope and assurance that, regardless of their family background, they can achieve their ambitions and become what they want to be,” she said.

Solomon Atibuni, Co-Director of the Child Protection Alliance (CPA) The Gambia, highlighted the organisation’s work in promoting children’s rights and participation in decision-making processes.

He said CPA, established in 2001 with support from UNICEF, has grown into a national organisation with a broad membership of local and international partners. He encouraged young people to engage with Voice of the Young, a youth platform hosted by CPA that focuses on leadership and capacity building.

Delivering the keynote address, Dwight Wilson urged young people to understand their purpose, work hard and remain disciplined and consistent in pursuing their goals.

He warned against drug abuse, corruption and lack of integrity, describing these as major challenges facing Africa, and encouraged participants to build strong character and maintain good reputations as they prepare for the future.
