Gambian forward Adama Sidibeh was on target for Stockport County despite their 4-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers in the League One Playoff Final.
The result ended Stockport County’s hopes of securing promotion to the English Championship.
Stockport made a strong start to the match and believed they had taken the lead in the 11th minute when Sidibeh found the net. However, the goal was ruled out following a VAR review.
The Gambian striker continued to trouble Bolton’s defence with his pace and movement and was rewarded in the 29th minute when he scored to level the match before halftime.
Sidibeh’s goal provided hope for Stockport County heading into the interval after an encouraging first-half display.
Bolton, however, returned strongly in the second half and took control of the contest with a series of quick goals that shifted the momentum in their favour.
Stockport struggled to match Bolton’s intensity after the break as the match ended in a heavy defeat for Sidibeh’s side despite the Gambian forward’s impressive individual performance.
