Serrekunda United produced the biggest upset of Week 27 in the GFF-APS Wallet Men’s Second Division League after defeating league leaders Colley Stars FC 2-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
The victory tightened the race for promotion as the league campaign entered its decisive stage.
Serrekunda United took the lead through an own goal by Musa Nyassi before Muhammed Ceesay added a second-half strike to seal an important victory against the table-toppers.
At the Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum, Menmar Banjul United came from behind to thrash relegation-threatened Serrekunda FC 4-1.
Serrekunda FC had opened the scoring through Abdoulie Jatta, but Menmar Banjul United responded strongly after the interval. Wally Sanyang scored twice, while Ousainou Gagigo and Modou Lamin Darboe also found the net to complete the comeback victory.
At the Bakau Mini Stadium, Marimoo Pakfood FC secured a late 1-0 win over AJ Soccer thanks to a stoppage-time goal from John Mendy.
In Brikama, Elite United FC kept their promotion hopes alive with a 1-0 victory against Sibanor United Football Club. Adama Kujabi scored the decisive goal in the 57th minute.
Meanwhile, in Basori, Wagadu Football Club registered a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Baalor Sarr.
Abubacarr Njie and Muhammed Kanteh scored for Wagadu FC, while Mamudou Bojang netted the consolation goal for the Faraba-based side.
Following the completion of Week 27 fixtures, Colley Stars FC remain top of the table with 51 points, one point ahead of second-placed Kanifing East FC.
Elite United FC occupy third place with 44 points, while North Star and Baalor Sarr are tied on 42 points.
At the bottom of the standings, Serrekunda FC, Gunjur United FC and Suwo Kono remain in the relegation zone as the season approaches its final stages.
