President Adama Barrow on Friday inaugurated a newly constructed mosque in Demba Kunda Kasseh, Jimara District, Upper River Region (URR), during a tour linked to the launch of the Connect Gambia Infrastructure Projects in the Central River Region (CRR) and URR.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Barrow called on Gambians to continue praying for peace, unity and decorum throughout the country’s electoral cycle, stressing that peaceful coexistence remains essential for national development.
The Gambian leader joined worshippers from Demba Kunda and surrounding communities for prayers at the new mosque and commended residents for the unity and solidarity demonstrated during the construction of the religious facility.
He urged citizens to continue promoting peace and stability, particularly as the country approaches another electoral cycle, noting that national peace and social harmony are critical pillars for sustainable development.
President Barrow also called on religious leaders across the country to reinforce messages of peace and tolerance in their sermons.
He congratulated the people of Demba Kunda Kasseh for what he described as their collective spirit and commitment to community development.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Alhagie Bubou Drammeh thanked the President for his support towards the construction of the mosque.
Alhagie Drammeh, a native of Demba Kunda, assured the President of the community’s continued support for his development agenda.
Following the inauguration, President Barrow inspected the culvert under construction at the entrance of Demba Kunda, as well as the road linking the community to Basse Manneh Kunda.
The President later continued his nationwide infrastructure tour with the laying of foundation stones for new road projects in the Upper River Region.
