Team Kaba Endorses Col. Musa Balla Jammeh For GFF Presidency

By: Madi Seneghore

Team Kaba has officially endorsed Colonel Musa M. Balla Jammeh, popularly known as Falcon, as its candidate for the upcoming August 2026 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Elective Congress, following internal consultations within the group.

The endorsement marks a key development ahead of the leadership transition expected at the federation, as long-serving GFF President Lamin Kaba Bajo is anticipated to step down at the end of his current mandate in line with term limits introduced during his tenure.

Team Kaba commended President Bajo’s leadership, describing his tenure as one that delivered notable progress and stability for Gambian football at both local and international levels.

According to the group, two candidates—Colonel Musa Jammeh and Mr. Kemo Ceesay—had expressed interest in succeeding President Bajo, prompting extensive consultations aimed at producing a unified position ahead of the congress.

However, despite a series of engagements with both aspirants, consensus was not reached. The group subsequently settled on Colonel Jammeh, stating that his endorsement was based on his suitability to consolidate and advance the gains achieved under the current administration.

Team Kaba said the decision was taken in the interest of continuity and further development of Gambian football, urging stakeholders and supporters to rally behind Colonel Jammeh as preparations intensify for the 2026 elections.
