The trial of one Sarjo Bah who is accused of raping a minor could not proceed on Tuesday because the prosecution failed to appear before the court.
No reason was provided for the prosecution’s absence in the court presided over by Justice Ebrima Jaiteh.
The statement of offense disclosed that Sarjo Bah, on or about the 25th of November 2025 in Mamuda Village, West Coast Region, engaged in a sexual act with a 9-year-old victim (name withheld) by inserting his penis into her vagina, thereby committing an offense.
Counsel Kadija A. Muhammed appeared for the accused, while the prosecution was absent.
The court noted that in the interest of justice and for the benefit of doubt, the court granted one last adjournment.
The case was adjourned to May 18, 2026, and a hearing notice was to be issued to the State Law Office.
