The Gambia National Olympic Committee has confirmed the country’s participation in the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with athletes set to compete in athletics, judo, cycling and swimming.
The announcement signals The Gambia’s continued involvement in major international sporting events, with a delegation featuring both experienced competitors and first-time participants.
In athletics, national sprinter Gina Mariam Bass Bittaye will lead the team, alongside relay athletes Isatou Sey, Nyimasata Jawneh and Maimuna Jallow, who will all make their Commonwealth Games debut.
In judo, Olympian Faye Alex Njie returns after winning a silver medal at the previous Commonwealth Games, and will compete alongside Abdourahman Ceesay.
In swimming, Olympians Ousman Jobe and Pap D Jonga will represent The Gambia, bringing international experience to the squad.
