The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) on Wednesday signed a one-month contract with Balla Engineering Services to begin foundational works on FIFA Arena mini-pitches at Latrikunda Sabiji and Bottrop schools.
Under the agreement, signed at Football House by GFF President Lamin Kabba Bajo and Balla Engineering Chief Executive Officer Musa Camara, the company will construct the sub-base and base for two mini-pitches under the FIFA Arena Project.
The initiative aims to provide safe, inclusive and accessible football facilities for communities, with a particular focus on youth engagement and grassroots development. FIFA plans to roll out 1,000 mini-pitches globally as part of efforts to expand access to football.
Following completion of the groundwork, FIFA-appointed specialists will install perimeter fencing and synthetic turf in accordance with FIFA Quality Programme standards.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Bajo urged the contractor to deliver quality work within the stipulated timeframe, noting the collaboration between the GFF, FIFA and the government through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.
Project Liaison Officer Matarr Jobe expressed confidence in Balla Engineering Services, citing the company’s previous successful project delivery. In response, Camara assured stakeholders of timely completion and adherence to high-quality standards.
