Four young men have been arraigned before Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on multiple charges linked to an alleged theft incident in Kololi, with the court ordering a delay in proceedings to determine their ages.
The accused — Buba Jobe, Abdoulie Ceesay, Sada Secka and Alfusainey Jallow — appeared before Principal Magistrate Sallah M’bai on three counts of offences including conspiracy to commit a felony and theft, contrary to provisions of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
Prosecuting on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, ASP Ahmed Touray told the court that the accused persons allegedly conspired among themselves on 13 April 2026 in Kololi, within the Kanifing Municipality, to commit a felony, namely stealing.
According to the charge sheet, the group is accused under count two of stealing an iPhone 11 valued at D16,000, said to be the property of one Momodou Baldeh on the same date and location.
In a separate count, the third accused, Sada Secka, is alleged to have stolen a Samsung S9+ smartphone of unspecified value belonging to an unknown person.
When the charges were read and explained to them in a language they understood, all four accused persons denied the allegations.
However, before proceeding further, Magistrate M’bai raised concerns over the ages of the accused and directed that they produce birth certificates to enable the court determine whether they are minors.
Pending that determination, the court ordered that the accused persons be taken to Bakoteh Police Station and be kept in custody until the next hearing.
The case has been adjourned to Monday, 20 April 2026, for continuation.
