UDP Spokesman Challenges President Barrow to Name PIU Shooter.

By Kemo Kanyi

Karamo Njie, an official of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has called on President Adama Barrow to investigate and disclose those responsible for the killing of paramilitary officers in the Sukuta-Jabang traffic light shooting.

Njie, the UDP Spokesperson in the North Bank Region was speaking in an interview with The Voice on Tuesday. He was reacting to remarks made by the President suggesting possible links between the UDP leadership and the incident.

Njie said Barrow’s statements reflect what he described as the ruling party’s narrative, warning that such claims could undermine public confidence in the presidency.

“I challenge him to name those responsible for the killing of our security officers. Failure to do so raises serious questions. The matter should be thoroughly investigated,” Njie remarked.

He also called for an inquiry into reports that a vehicle allegedly linked to a senior government official was seen at the scene of the incident.

Njie further alleged that attempts were made to associate the UDP with the incident, but said such efforts had not been substantiated. He urged the authorities to provide clarity on the matter.

The UDP spokesperson described allegations linking the party’s leadership to the incident as serious, and called on the president to address the issue transparently.

Njie also commended Ousainu Darboe for what he described as his commitment to addressing national issues, adding that the UDP leader had called for a full investigation into the killings.

Following a High Court ruling on the matter, Darboe urged the government to conduct a comprehensive inquiry. Njie said failure to do so could prompt future authorities to revisit the case.
