Ceesay Declares Bid for GFF Presidency, Cites Player Development Record

Gambian football administrator Kemo Ceesay has declared his intention to contest for the presidency of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), citing his track record in developing professional players and his experience in football management.

Ceesay, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Gambia Dutch Lion Football Club and a former Financial Director of the GFF, said his ambition is driven by a desire to strengthen player development and improve governance in Gambian football.

In a statement addressed to the public, he said his involvement in football has been marked by “action, sacrifice, and results,” highlighting his role in nurturing young talents and facilitating their transition into professional careers.

He pointed to his tenure at Steve Biko Football Club, where several players progressed to professional football under his leadership. These include Mustapha Jarju, Ebrima Sohna, Ousman Koli, Assan Jatta, Mustapha Sarr, Abdou Jammeh, Adama Bojang, and Dembo Saidykhan.

According to Ceesay, these players represent part of his contribution to grassroots football development, adding that he played a direct role in supporting their growth and career advancement during his time at the club.

He noted that his commitment to Gambian football spans several years, involving both financial and administrative support, and expressed confidence in the country’s football potential.

Ceesay said his vision for the GFF includes building a more inclusive and professionally managed federation, with emphasis on accountability, transparency, and sustainable development.

He added that his experience as a former GFF Financial Director and club executive positions him to lead reforms aimed at strengthening the federation and improving outcomes for players and stakeholders.

Ceesay maintained that his record in player development demonstrates his capacity to contribute effectively to the advancement of football in The Gambia.
