The Gambian wrestling delegation has arrived safely in Bissau to participate in the West African Regional Championship of Olympic and Beach Wrestling, scheduled from April 6 to 12, 2026.
The delegation comprises two athletes, a coach, and an official referee. Despite its small size, the team carries the aspirations of The Gambia’s growing wrestling community.
The championship will feature both Olympic and beach wrestling disciplines, bringing together top talents from across West Africa. The Gambian athletes aim to test their skills, gain experience, and benchmark themselves against established regional competitors.
Their participation underscores efforts to develop and promote wrestling in The Gambia and strengthen the country’s presence in regional competitions.
