Captain Abdoulaye opened the scoring in stoppage time of the first half (45+4’), giving the host nation an early advantage. Senegal quickly extended their lead after the break, with Mbaye finding the net in the 47th minute. Gambia’s Omar Colley pulled one back shortly after, reducing the deficit to 2-1 and briefly raising hopes for the Scorpions.
Senegal sealed the victory with a late strike from Camara in the 90+5’ minute, ensuring a decisive 3-1 outcome.
