A major wrestling event featuring some of the country’s rising talents, including CFA and Pokola, is scheduled to take place in Serrekunda on 12 April 2026, organisers have announced.

The event, organised by the Boka Halat Wrestling Promotion Team, will bring together several wrestlers in high-profile bouts aimed at promoting youth participation in sports and encouraging community engagement through wrestling.

The main contest will see CFA face Pokola, while other scheduled matches include Jordan against Ramadan, Njeka Jel taking on France 2, and Harr Yalla battling Larkrimozen.

According to the organisers, the initiative is intended to provide young athletes with a platform to showcase their abilities while promoting positive values such as discipline, resilience and teamwork.

The event has also received support from local youth advocates, including Isatou Jallow, founder and chief executive officer of the Jollof Care Center, an organisation that focuses on the rehabilitation and reintegration of ex-prisoners and irregular migrants returning to The Gambia.

Through the centre, beneficiaries are provided with vocational skills training and psychosocial support to facilitate their reintegration into society.

Organisers say the upcoming wrestling competition is expected to attract a large audience and further highlight the role of sports in youth empowerment in The Gambia.
