President Adama Barrow on Friday officially inaugurated the Diplomat Twin Towers in Kanifing, describing the development as a new chapter in The Gambia’s development journey marked by “strong confidence, a sound vision, and tangible results.”
Speaking at the ceremony, President Barrow noted that the project, initially viewed by some as ambitious, has now emerged as a visible success, attracting growing interest in the country’s evolving urban economy.
The GMD 1.7 billion ($32.5 million) landmark comprises more than 90 apartments, a multi-level commercial complex, and facilities designed to meet modern urban lifestyle demands. It is built to accommodate over 500 occupants and includes a gymnasium, an IT hub, with future plans for an advanced medical facility and a water treatment plant.
President Barrow said the project reflects a forward-looking vision, combining residential, commercial, and lifestyle elements to meet the demands of a growing urban population while providing secure office and living spaces. He also highlighted that the construction has generated more than 1,000 jobs and will continue to create employment opportunities during its operation.
“This development aligns perfectly with our YIRIWA National Development Plan (2023–2027), which prioritises infrastructure, urban transformation, private sector-led growth, job creation, and economic diversification,” he said.
He further noted that his administration has strategically invested in infrastructure to create conducive environment for investors while empowering young Gambians to become independent job initiators and innovators. “Good road infrastructure connects people to opportunities and investors to possibilities,” he added.
President Barrow commended ACE Communications, led by Madam Fatim Badjie, for their leadership and execution, and Swami International, under Mr. Khimji, for their partnership and confidence in The Gambia.
“The Diplomat Twin Towers is not just a structure; it is a visible manifestation of belief, hard work, and national ambition,” he said, urging the business community and youth to seize available opportunities and contribute to national development.
The inauguration underscores The Gambia’s focus on welcoming investment, encouraging innovation, and supporting projects that drive economic growth and urban transformation.
