The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has confirmed that GACH Global and Pavi Fort are cooperating with tax authorities following the sealing of some of their facilities over alleged unpaid taxes.
On Monday, GRA officials closed down parts of the companies’ operations in Brufut and Banjulinding in connection with outstanding tax obligations. The action sparked public debate after the matter was reported by local media on Wednesday.
A senior GRA management official told journalists on Thursday that both companies had engaged the Authority and were working towards resolving the issue.
“I can confirm to you that GACH and Pavi Fort are cooperating very well. We have asked them to prepare a payment plan and share it with us. We are optimistic that the matter will be sorted out very soon,” the official said.
The source further disclosed that GACH Global has already made an initial payment of D600,000 and is expected to make additional payments, though the Authority declined to disclose the total amount owed.
Meanwhile, GACH Global has attributed the temporary shutdown to what it described as a “miscommunication and minor fiscal oversight,” rejecting allegations of deliberate tax evasion.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the company said the matter had been resolved in consultation with relevant authorities and that operations had resumed.
“We wish to clarify to the general public, our partners, and well-wishers that the matter in question arose from a miscommunication and minor fiscal oversight, which has since been fully resolved in consultation with the relevant authorities,” the statement said.
GACH Global also clarified that only its tomato processing facility in Banjulinding was temporarily affected, adding that it continues to maintain a “constructive and cooperative relationship” with the GRA.
The company further objected to what it described as inaccuracies in the earlier report, particularly references linking it to mining activities, insisting it is not involved in mining operations.
While expressing concern over the tone of the publication, GACH Global reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, stability, and its role in The Gambia’s agro-industrial sector.
