Colley Stars Extend Lead in GFF-APS Wallet Men’s Second Division League

Week 17 of the GFF-APS Wallet Men’s Second Division League concluded on Thursday, with Colley Stars consolidating their position at the top of the table following a 2-1 victory over AJ Soccer.

At the Soma Mini Stadium, Bubacarr Susso opened the scoring for Colley Stars in the first minute with a powerful strike from outside the 18-yard box. Bakary Sanyang doubled the lead in the 15th minute via a penalty. AJ Soccer’s Saikou Jammeh pulled one back in the 50th minute, but Colley Stars held on to secure all three points, extending their lead to seven points at the summit.

Elsewhere, Serrekunda FC claimed back-to-back victories for the first time this season, defeating Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 1-0. Yusupha Jaiteh’s left-footed strike in the 18th minute proved decisive as Serrekunda moved out of the relegation zone.

Suwo Kono FC recorded a comprehensive 3-0 win over Marimoo Pakfood FC at the Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum. Ansu Nyassi opened the scoring before Yabou Baldeh added a brace in the 67th and 71st minutes to secure the victory.

In Bakau, Sibanor United FC came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Menmar Banjul United. Ismaila Njie and Modou Lamin Darboe gave Menmar Banjul a two-goal advantage, but Fakebba Saine and Bakary Kujabi restored parity for Sibanor United in an entertaining encounter at the Bakau Mini Stadium.

Meanwhile, RS Tallinding FC and Elite United FC played out a goalless draw at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, ending Elite United’s winning streak.

After 17 weeks, Colley Stars top the table with 38 points from 17 matches, followed by Elite United and Baalor Sarr, who are level on 31 points. Gunjur United FC, Marimoo Pakfood, and AJ Soccer occupy the relegation zone with 14, 15, and 16 points, respectively.
