The Association of Non-Governmental Organizations (TANGO) Monday conducted a daylong training and sensitization for duty bearers, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and rights holders on women’s leadership and decision-making.
The training was held with support from SIDA and Gambiagrupperna – Future in Our Hands.
The event was held at the ADWAC Conference Hall in Kerewan, North Bank Region, and was attended by women, youths, persons with disabilities, Alkalolu, and Village Development Committee members.
The training focused on the landscape of women’s political participation, inclusive political advocacy, leadership and personal empowerment, and political strategy and campaigning.
Mrs. Yadicon Njie Eribo, Board Chairperson of TANGO, emphasized the importance of the training as the country prepares for the 2026–2027 election cycle. She noted that women’s participation in elections should go beyond mere visibility and fanfare, encouraging them to actively contest for political positions.
