Passengers traveling between Basse and Farafenni in seven-seater vehicles have expressed concern over a recent unilateral increase in fares from D350 to D400. They say the hike violates the official tariff and are calling on the General Transport Association (GTA) to regulate and ensure compliance by drivers.
The fare increase, according to passengers, is unjustified and has made traveling more expensive. They also question why GTA representatives or executives have not taken steps to normalize fares and enforce compliance among affected drivers.
Passengers urged the GTA to intensify monitoring of the route, noting that a further fuel price increase could push fares to D500 for seven-seater vehicles.
Meanwhile, fares on seven-seater vehicles from Farafenni to Lamin Koto remain unchanged at the official rate of D200.
