Banjul, March 2, 2026 – The National Council for Civic Education (NCCE) has appointed Mr. Momodou A. Sise, former Clerk of the National Assembly, as its new Chairman.
According to the Council, the appointment was made by His Excellency President Adama Barrow under the provisions of the NCCE Act of 1998, and takes effect from 1 March 2026.
The appointment follows the expiration of the tenure of the previous Council led by veteran broadcaster Alhaji Sering Fye. The NCCE expressed gratitude to Chairman Fye and his team for their dedicated service.
In addition to Mr. Sise, the Council has appointed Mariama Chow, Fatou Sosseh Jallow, Momodou Wuri Jallow, and Isatou Dabo as members.
Mr. Sise is a seasoned administrator with expertise in banking, finance, and parliamentary governance. He holds a Master’s degree in Management and has over 30 years of experience in public service.
He began his career at the Department of Internal Audit and later served at the Ministry of Trade, Regional Integration and Employment. He subsequently joined the National Assembly, holding positions including Accountant, Senior Assistant Clerk, and Deputy Clerk for Administration and Finance, a role he held for nearly ten years.
From 2018 to 2024, Mr. Sise served as Clerk of the National Assembly and Secretary to the National Assembly Authority, acting as principal procedural adviser to the Speaker and Members of Parliament on parliamentary rules, precedents, and constitutional practice.
Mr. Sise has also contributed at national and international levels, with research interests in public sector management, public finance, governance, and economics.
