Justice Sonia Warns of Bail Revocation as Accused Fails to Appear

By: Isatou Sarr

Justice Sonia has ordered that the first accused person, Nfansu Fatty, and his counsel, K. Jallow, be formally notified to appear in court on the next adjourned date or risk revocation of bail.

The directive was issued during proceedings in the criminal matter involving the State versus Nfansu Fatty, the first accused, and Ensa Colley, the second accused, which came up for hearing of the prosecution’s sixth witness (PW6).

When the case was called, State Counsel A.A. Wakawa, together with Counsel A.R. Dambelly, appeared for the prosecution. Counsel B. Badjie announced his appearance for the second accused, informing the court that his client was present.

However, the first accused, Nfansu Fatty, and his lawyer, Counsel K. Jallow, were absent.

Addressing the court, State Counsel Wakawa applied for the presence of PW6 to be recorded, noting that the witness was in attendance and had just completed a night shift.

In response, Justice Sonia ruled that in the interest of justice, a court order be issued notifying both the first accused and his counsel to ensure their attendance at the next sitting. She warned that failure by the first accused to appear would result in the revocation of his bail.

The matter was subsequently adjourned to March 23, 2026, at 10:40 a.m. for the definite continuation of trial.
