The complainant in an alleged hot oil assault case on Monday continued her testimony before Her Worship A. Manneh at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, where Jainaba Faye is charged with assault causing actual bodily harm.
The prosecution, led by Sergeant E. Camara on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), alleges that on January 20, 2026, in Bakoteh, Faye poured hot oil on her employee, Mam Jara Jarju.
Jarju told the court she was rushed to hospital, initially attended to by a nurse, and later transferred to the surgical unit, where she was admitted for one week before being discharged. She said she accompanied police officers to obtain a medical report and later received a certificate she could identify by the doctor’s name, her own name, and the police officer’s signature.
The accused, however, denied ever seeing or receiving any medical report.
Jarju said she sustained burns on her face, ear, and hand. She asked someone to photograph her injuries and identified the pictures in court, recalling the clothing she wore at the time—a baby pink dress in the first photo and a brown dress in the second. Three photographs in total were tendered and marked as exhibits.
The complainant added that she now has a scar on her face and her vision has been affected. She could not provide the exact cost of her treatment, noting that her family handled the payments.
The case was adjourned to March 10, 2026.
