CRR Launches ‘One Niamina’ Association

By Binta Jaiteh

Three constituencies in the Central River Region (CRR)—Niamina Dankunku, Niamina West, and Niamina East—on Saturday launched the One Niamina Association, an initiative aimed at promoting unity, sustainable development, and inclusive progress among Niamina communities.

The launch, held in Kudang Niamina, included panel discussions and breakout sessions on agriculture, women’s economic empowerment, diaspora engagement, and the establishment of the association’s leadership and governance structures.

Speaking on behalf of the CRR Governor, National Assembly Member (NAM) for Niamina Dankunku Constituency, Samba Jallow, described the initiative as a demonstration of unity and collaboration among the people of Niamina.

He said the association brings together sons and daughters of Niamina, both locally and in the diaspora, to advance economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and social development.

“This vision aligns with the national agenda of building a stronger and more inclusive Gambia, as outlined in the National Development Plan,” Jallow said.

He added that the association is expected to deliver tangible outcomes, including improved agricultural productivity through modern techniques, enhanced access to education and healthcare services, and promotion of youth entrepreneurship.

Jallow assured participants of the CRR administration’s readiness to support the association through policy guidance, infrastructure development, and resource mobilisation. He encouraged young people to use the platform for innovation and leadership while urging elders to guide them to ensure the association’s success.

NAM for Niamina East, Dawda Jeng, welcomed the initiative, noting that it would strengthen community-driven development and called on members to take collective responsibility for its growth.

“To strengthen our bond, we must work together in unity for the betterment of the association,” Jeng said.

Meanwhile, NAM for Niamina West, Birom Sowe, expressed his commitment to supporting the development objectives of the One Niamina Association.
