The Gambia Police Force on Monday announced the arrest of three suspects in connection with an alleged shooting incident at Envy Night Club in Fajara.
Police said the incident occurred on Sunday, Jan. 19, when the victim, Muhammed Buari Mendy, 28, a resident of Serekunda, was socialising at the nightclub before he was allegedly shot by the principal suspect, who fled the scene.
In a statement, police identified the main suspect as Saliou Gaye, 26, of Fajara South. Two other suspects — Abdou Faal, described as an accomplice, and Karamo Saidy, alleged to be the custodian of the firearm used — were also arrested.
Crime scene investigators were immediately deployed to the area, which was cordoned off. Police said three empty cartridges were recovered and secured as evidence.
Subsequent operations led to the arrest of the remaining suspects and the recovery of a Taurus pistol loaded with ten rounds of live ammunition, police disclosed.
All three suspects have been cautioned and are currently in police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
The police reiterated their commitment to conducting a thorough investigation and bringing all those responsible to justice, while commending members of the public for their cooperation, which contributed to the swift arrests.
