The Patriotic Alliance for System Transformation, Emancipation through Functionalism (PASTEF The Gambia) has positioned itself as a key voice in The Gambia’s political landscape, nearly two years after its founding.

The movement has been actively engaged on issues such as civic responsibility, democratic consolidation, good governance, constitutional reform, electoral reform, diaspora voting, and coalition building. Despite signaling its intention to contest the forthcoming presidential election, PASTEF The Gambia has not yet announced a presidential candidate.

According to the party’s Public Relations Officer, Sidibeh, this reflects a deliberate commitment to institutional politics rather than the glorification of individual leaders. “Sustainable democracy is built on strong institutions and clear legal and policy frameworks, not on personality cults,” he said.

PASTEF The Gambia aims to nurture leadership based on institutional values, ethical governance, and a shared national vision. “Our focus is on inspiring and nurturing leadership that embodies competence, accountability, and service, rather than personal ambition,” Sidibeh added.

The movement described its approach as distinct from traditional political parties, emphasizing functionalism, collective responsibility, and patriotic alliance to achieve national transformation through system-driven governance.
